Darren McGilloway, Andrew Doherty, Patrick McDaid, Derek O’Halon and Gearalts of the Na Cosa Losa Walking Club travelled to Sligo on Saturday and successfully hiked to Ben Bulben Mountain and then climbed to its peak which is a large flat mesa with amazing views of the surrounding countryside. Ben Bulben is a large rock formation 526 m (1,726 ft) in County Sligo, Ireland. Ben Bulben was formed during the ice age, when Ireland was under glaciers.
Together the Club raised over £400.00 on their sponsored climb, this will purchase over 30 solar lights for poor families and refugee camps in Gaza. Many of these families have no electricity and those that do have electricity only have it for a few hours per day due to outages which can last up to 18 hours! Children and University students are forced to use dangerous candles to read and study for exams. This causes many fires where children have died. By supplying these families with a solar light they never have to risk their lives to study or read again. Please consider organising an event in your area in support of this campaign. We are saving a life, one light at a time, and we need your help to do it. You can also help by sponsoring teacher David Bell in the Belfast Marathon HERE, all monies raised go to Light Gaza.
Upon reaching the summit Na Cosa Lofa group were rewarded with a magnificent views Please enjoy a selection of beautiful photos of this event.
